I'm Tara, and I have been working in a helping profession for 19 years
In 2015, feeling unable to offer as much support as I would have liked to the people I worked with, I decided to train as a counsellor. I now do a job that I love and am passionate about.
At the heart of what I do is the desire to reach out and help people to rediscover their confidence and inner strength. I believe that every human being has the innate ability to heal and grow, we just sometimes need help finding it when we have lost our way.
Since qualifying I have worked with individuals experiencing a range of personal issues, such as bereavement, anxiety, low-self esteem, depression, relationship difficulties, stress and long term illness.
As a person-centred counsellor, I will provide a confidential environment where, with me by your side, you can explore your thoughts and feelings. I will offer you empathy and acceptance without judgement and a safe space where you will be truly heard.
Just as each person is unique, the work that we do together will be unique. After an initial session to ascertain what you are hoping to achieve from counselling, how you spend the time within sessions and the number of sessions you have, will be up to you.
As part of my own healing journey, I began to practice mindfulness and have been amazed and inspired by the many benefits that it brings. I offer mindfulness techniques to my counselling clients, if this is something they feel would be beneficial.
Working creatively is something I am passionate about. In my experience, it helps us to access the subconscious. This can be particularly beneficial for those times when we feel stuck, don’t know where to start or what to say.
However, I understand that this is not everyone’s cup of tea, so it will always be your choice whether you wish to work this way or not.
Each of our sessions will be 50 minutes in length.
